About The Department

KhejuriCollege was established in 1999. During the establishment of the college, ninesubjects in Humanities and one in Agriculture Science were affiliated asGeneral (Pass) courses. In the year...., Music was introduced as a Generalcourse. At that time the department followed the 3 year degree course. During2019-20, it introduced a semester system following the CBCS pattern. Currently,the department has two faculty members - Dr Anurupa Hazra and Mrs Sukanya Das.Since the birth of the department, it helped ... students who chose Music as asubject for their undergraduate course.

Thecourse includes various domains of classical music - Dhrupad, Dhamar, Khayal,and also Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul geeti, Atul Prasadi, Dwijendralal Ray's song,Rajanikant's song etc. Further, Folk songs, Agamani, Vijaya, Jatra gaan,Bhajan, etc. are also in the syllabus. While the theoretical aspects coverSangeet, Swar, Raga, Taal, Jaati, etc., it also encompasses music of the Vaidikera, Charyapada, GeetGovind, Naam Kirtana, Pala Kirtan, Theatre song,Nandantattwa, and contribution of talented individuals in the realm of Music.

Aim and Objectives of theDepartment

The departmentwas established with an aim to provide an opportunity to students who want totake Music as a subject for their undergraduate course. The key objective wasto enhance students' knowledge and interest in this subject through acomprehensive teaching curriculum that includes the theoretical as well aspractical aspects of Music. While the department was instituted to offer Musicas a subject for General (Pass) course, we are hopeful to introduce it as aHonours course so that interested students can flourish with their preferredsubject Music and may pursue higher studies in this domain. Since Music isclosely associated with our culture, it is our duty to inculcate in ourstudents a sense of responsibility to protect and advance that culture. To thatend, the Music department organises various cultural programmes involving thestudents of the Music department and music lovers of other departments. Theefforts of faculties and all concerned individuals in the advancement andwelfare of the department's students is highly appreciated.

PSO-1:- For at least half an hour, the student is able to offer a realistic demonstration of ragas.

PSO-2:- Students are capable of showing various aspects of ragas and their distinction.

PSO-3:- Students are studies the theoretical elements of prescribed ragas. PSO-4:- Students are also knows about the Indian music's fundamental terms.

PSO-5:- Learners are also learning about the compositional styles of Hindustani music and notation systems.

PSO-6:- Students are studies the lives and contributions of Hindustani, Western and Karnataka music composers.

PSO-7:- According to the Notation system, he learns to compose realistic compositions

PSO-8:- Students are also learns about the music in the Vedic period, and also studies the works of music scholars of the past.

PSO-9:- Learners are learning the Gharanas of Hindustani music.

 

PSO-10:- Different musical styles of Hindustani and Karnataka music are also learn in an analytical way.

 

PSO-11:- Established the ability to recognize musical issues within the large group rehearsal atmosphere as a leader, and show ways to address them.

PSO-12:- Demonstrated awareness of successful preparation, instruction execution, and reliable student evaluation.

PSO-13:- The ability to practice, study, and perform a complete and juried lecture recital was seen on their main instrument or voice.

PSO-14:- Strong knowledge of literature, performance activities of different types, and strong performance on the main instrument or voice of the student has been demonstrated.

PSO-15:- The research skills required for musical and contextual comprehension of musical elements and significance will be demonstrated and applied by students.
