Khejuri College was a dream of the local residents of Khejuri and its surrounding areas. Since its birth, the institution has served as the premier centre of higher learning in the locality. The College has faced several challenges from its inception. It started its journey in 1999 in an unassuming tin shed but now boasts of several buildings and other academic infrastructure. Most importantly, the College has endeavored to facilitate the educational journey for First Generation Learners in a remote part of West Bengal. It caters to marginalised, disprivileged citizens as most of our student hail from scheduled caste families who have faced social backwardness and ostracisation for generations. I thank all the teaching and non-teaching staff, students and alumni and all our well-wishers for the present achievements of the college. True to its original vision, the College has also functioned as a vortex for extension activities in the local community and has also served as a repository for research about local culture, literature and traditions. It is hoped that in the future we will be able to further add to our infrastructure – set up more classrooms, provide computers and ICT facilities to students in a more extensive manner and initiate Job-Oriented Skill-Based Courses which would provide more occupational opportunities to our students.
